{"id":43790,"date":"2017-04-04T09:37:49","date_gmt":"2017-04-04T07:37:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=43790"},"modified":"2017-04-04T09:37:49","modified_gmt":"2017-04-04T07:37:49","slug":"giants-clash-over-dave-banda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/04\/04\/giants-clash-over-dave-banda\/","title":{"rendered":"Giants clash over Dave Banda"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Be Forward Wanderers have threatened to lodge a complaint to the Football Association of Malawi (Fam) following reports that their rivals, Nyasa Big Bullets, have snapped starlet Dave Banda.<\/p>\n<p>Banda stole the limelight with the Southern Region Football Association Premier Division side, Nsanama, after scoring 42 goals last season.<\/p>\n<p>Wanderers General Secretary, Mike Butao, said Banda signed a five-year contract with the Nomads last August.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDavie Banda, alongside another midfielder from Nsanama, Anthony Namwera, signed contracts with us and we have been expecting them to report for duties,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are treating the issue as mere speculation. However, once the Football Association of Malawi releases the list of the players that have switched sides, we will respond accordingly. If Dave Banda\u2019s name appears at any other team, we will lodge a complaint to Fam.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Butao claimed that Wanderers had evidence that the players signed for them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe two players were identified by a certain MP [Member of Parliament] who supports Wanderers. The MP then linked with our trustee, Rashid Gaffar, who recommended that we sign them,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Bullets Interim General Secretary, Albert Chigoga, accused Wanderers of trying to frustrate the People\u2019s Team on the transfer market.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have our own evidence which suggests otherwise. We had a chat with the player who said he signed a contract with Wanderers in 2012 and the contract was for two years. We spoke with his club before signing him and they assured us that he was not contracted to any team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNsanama officials also claimed that Wanderers were writing them, arguing that they will give them a better offer than Bullets. So, if the player had a contract with Wanderers, why were they ready to counter-offer?
