{"id":43764,"date":"2017-04-03T10:41:29","date_gmt":"2017-04-03T08:41:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=43764"},"modified":"2017-04-03T10:41:29","modified_gmt":"2017-04-03T08:41:29","slug":"teveta-bosses-fate-before-month-end","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/04\/03\/teveta-bosses-fate-before-month-end\/","title":{"rendered":"Teveta bosses fate before month end"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A <\/strong>disciplinary hearing for three members of the executive management of the Technical Entrepreneurship and Vocation Education Training Authority (Teveta) has been scheduled before the end of the month.<\/p>\n<p>The three\u2014Teveta Chief Executive Officer Ndione Chauluka, Director of Training Modesto Gomani and Head of Funding Joseph Kampondeni\u2014were suspended on suspicion that they misappropriated K2.4 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Chauluka and Gomani were suspended in January while Kampondeni was sent on forced leave late last month.<\/p>\n<p>The Teveta board also confiscated vehicles from the three officials about two weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview yesterday, Teveta board chairman Gilbert Chilinde disclosed that the three officials formally responded in writing to the allegations by 28 March 2017 and the board is expected to set a date for the disciplinary hearing before the end of the month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have received letters of their responses and the suspension will expire by 20th of this month, so we will have to hold the disciplinary hearing before then.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe board does not want the officials to be tried in the media, so I will not give out more information regarding the issue,\u201d Chilinde said.<\/p>\n<p>The suspended officials were given seven days to respond to allegations that they were financing a project called Tsogolo Langa in Neno without the approval of the board.<\/p>\n<p>It is feared the funds for the project were being diverted for other uses, hence the investigations.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in January, the board also suspended Director of Finance Elwin Sichola but he was reinstated after he was cleared of any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A disciplinary hearing for three members of the executive management of the Technical Entrepreneurship and Vocation Education Training Authority (Teveta) has been scheduled before the end of the month.
