Amid economic challenges, Super League clubs have found alternative ways of bolstering their squads\u2014by signing free agents.<\/p>\n
In view of this, free agents dominated transfers that were completed before the closure of the window on Friday.<\/p>\n
Newly promoted side, Master Security FC, were the busiest club on the market having signed 22 players.<\/p>\n
Despite getting some of the players for free, the club would cough some K20 million in signing-on fees for the new recruits.<\/p>\n
Masters General Secretary Zacharia Nyirenda said they did good business on the market.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe targeted free agents and we got some players on loan,\u201d Nyirenda said in a brief response yesterday.<\/p>\n
The team has retained 15 players from the squad that earned Super League promotion from Chipiku Premier Division.<\/p>\n
The new signings include Luka Milanzie, Davie Ng\u2019ambi, Simplex Nthala, Malumbo Gondwe, Khumbo Msowoya, Green Msowoya, Peter Mselema, Tsanzo Dalio, Robin Ngalande, Vincent Nyangulu and Ndaziona Chilemba.<\/p>\n
Silver Strikers were behind Masters after signing 10 players such as Trevor Kalema, Mike Tetteh, Frank Chizunze, Hadji Wali and Yunusa Sherrif.<\/p>\n
Silver General Secretary Thabo Nyirenda could not disclose how much the club spent on the new signings.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, Nyasa Big Bullets failed to get some of their targeted players.<\/p>\n
The People\u2019s Team only signed Davie Banda, Andy Kamlete and Chimwemwe Idana after missing out on Ishmael Thindwa, who stayed put at Be Forward Wanderers having signed a two-year contract.<\/p>\n
Wanderers brought in Lucky Malata and Yamikani Chester from Silver and Azam Tigers, respectively.<\/p>\n
The Nomads also signed Fransisco Madinga and Precious Sambani from under-20 side, Namiwawa.<\/p>\n
Elsewhere, Super League champions, Kamuzu Barracks have signed Nation Harazi , Chimwemwe Chisambi (from Silver), Peter Mpulula (Tigers ) and Gerald Mwanza (Dwangwa United) whereas Moyale Barracks got blossoming forward Abel Mwakilama and Victor Gondwe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
