Be Forward Wanderers new signing, Yamikani Chester, has hit the ground running at the Lali Lubani Road, weighing in his dream debut with a goal for the archives last weekend.<\/p>\n
However, the slippery midfielder is under no illusion that he will have it easy at Wanderers, where, unlike at Azam Tigers, there is a dog-fight for positions in a midfield loaded with players such as Mike Kaziputa, Ibrahim Sadiki, Rafik Namwela, Ernest Tambe and Rafik Musa.<\/p>\n
During the week, Chester said he was determined to fight for his place and replicate the form that made him a star at Tigers.<\/p>\n
\u201cMoving from Tigers to Wanderers is a big jump for me. Obviously, Wanderers is bigger and I have to adapt to the life here. There are no guarantees that I will be playing regularly. It all depends on what the coach [Yasin Osman] wants,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The midfielder came off the bench to score in Wanderers\u2019 1-0 win over Nyasa Big Bullets last Saturday in the Wafawafa Big Four Bonanza held at Bingu National Stadium.<\/p>\n
Wanderers went on to win the bonanza after seeing off Kamuzu Barracks 2-0 the following day at the same venue.<\/p>\n
Reflecting on his winning goal, the spiky-haired playmaker downplayed his exploits.<\/p>\n
\u201cScoring is about luck. If you ask me, everyone scores out of sheer luck. You can train so hard and be determined to score but things change during the actual game,\u201d Chester insisted.<\/p>\n
Earlier, Osman said he will manage his squad by rotating players, adding that all he will demand from his charges is hard-work.<\/p>\n
Nonetheless, there is no doubt that when fielded in the right position, Chester can become a star at Wanderers.<\/p>\n
