As the finale of the country\u2019s mega dance competition, Kajive, draw closer, participants from the Northern Region are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that the prize money goes to the region.<\/p>\n
Leader of Mzuzu-based Jazzment Crew, Isaac Singini, 22, has warned Blantyre and Lilongwe contestants to watch out, saying the prize is up for the Northern Region\u2019s taking.<\/p>\n
Singini says, as winners of the 2013 Sprite Dance Competition, their mission is to maintain their track record.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur success in 2013 gave us the platform to get recognised. Again, we have, throughout the years, been performing in various places and dancing in music videos, which has helped us sharpen our skills,\u201d Singini says.<\/p>\n
Commenting on the Kajive finals, in which all groups from the Northern Region have made it into finals since there was no regional contest, Singini is optimistic that his crew can turn the tables during their maiden appearance in the show.<\/p>\n
Singini says patrons to the finale will be treated to a three-minute package of fun, creativity and fine choreography, among other things.<\/p>\n
Crew member Joseph Phiri, 21, has, meanwhile, appealed to the sponsors to consider bringing the regional contest to the Northern Region as a way of promoting competitiveness among groups in the region.<\/p>\n
\u201cVictory has to be fought for. One does not want to look as if they had an easy ride. So, we would like to participate in regional battles in coming seasons,\u201d Phiri says.<\/p>\n
With their eyes fixed on the prize money, Jazzment Crew expects to spend the money on new costume and a mirror to ease challenges faced during their training sessions.<\/p>\n
