{"id":43551,"date":"2017-03-31T09:17:45","date_gmt":"2017-03-31T07:17:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=43551"},"modified":"2017-03-31T09:17:47","modified_gmt":"2017-03-31T07:17:47","slug":"giddes-chalamanda-edgar-davis-invade-cockpit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/03\/31\/giddes-chalamanda-edgar-davis-invade-cockpit\/","title":{"rendered":"Giddes Chalamanda, Edgar &#038; Davis invade Cockpit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It will be a different experience for Cockpit\u2019s clientele as Giddes Chalamanda, Edgar Kachere and Davis Njobvu take over the venue on Sunday to kick-start the lounge\u2019s year.<\/p>\n<p>Since its establishment, the Cockpit has seen a number of artists performing but Sunday will surely belong to the much-travelled acoustic trio.<\/p>\n<p>Cockpit Lounge\u2019s Public Relations Manager, Tasha Maluza, said tickets are being sold in advance and all was set for the performance.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur clients deserve the best and we believe Giddes, Davis and Edgar will give them a memorable experience,\u201d Maluza said.<\/p>\n<p>While there is a huge difference in age between Giddes and the acoustic duo, the trio\u2019s performances serve as proof that old wine can mix with new wine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe legendary musician remains relevant today while Davis and Edgar have bridged the gap between the older generation and the youth and, yet, what they offer is enjoyed by everyone,\u201d Maluza said.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in an interview, Davis said they were happy to contribute to the cause of local music.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have been part of the music industry for close to 15 years, during which time we have released five albums which were well-received by our fans. During this time, we have performed in numerous places in and outside Malawi, the highlight being our performance at the Library of Congress, USA, in July 2016,\u201d Davis said.<\/p>\n<p>Davis said one of the aims, when they established the band, was to give fellow artists the platform to showcase their talent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have learnt a lot from Giddes and we have given him the platform to perform We have worked together for a number of years, giving Malawians the opportunity to enjoy our performances and that is what we are promising those who will be at the Cockpit on Sunday,\u201d Davis said.<\/p>\n<p>Davis said the legendary musician is part of their family and they thank God for opening their eyes to identify Giddes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe is hugely talented and what he needed was the platform to showcase his magic. We grew in stature as a band because of Giddes and we have learnt a lot by interacting with Giddes. For us to be where we are, it is because other people lifted us.
