{"id":43465,"date":"2017-03-30T08:33:09","date_gmt":"2017-03-30T06:33:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=43465"},"modified":"2017-03-30T08:33:10","modified_gmt":"2017-03-30T06:33:10","slug":"poet-mashallo-samilo-in-global-limelight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/03\/30\/poet-mashallo-samilo-in-global-limelight\/","title":{"rendered":"Poet Mashallo Samilo in global limelight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Poet Mashallo Samilo, who is Malawi Writers Union Northern Region Chapter General Secretary, has shown that local poetry can stand the test of international standards.<\/p>\n<p>This is because Samilo\u2019s poetry piece, \u2018Words from The Sun\u2019, has been published by The Next Generation Speaks\u2014 a global spoken and written word collaborative initiative that brings together arts organisations from five countries spanning continents.<\/p>\n<p>Participants include Roots and Routes from The Netherlands, Urban Woorden from Belgium, Brouhaha International from the United Kingdom, Youth Speaks, from the United States of America and Word \u2018N\u2019 Sound from South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>The Next Generation Speaks dedicated the month of March to love matters, as depicted under the theme \u2018Unwritten Letter To My Love\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>When contacted yesterday, Samilo said the development means Malawians can make it big on the international stage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI actually urge Malawian artists to aim for international breakthrough.
