{"id":43359,"date":"2017-03-28T09:41:08","date_gmt":"2017-03-28T07:41:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=43359"},"modified":"2017-03-28T09:41:11","modified_gmt":"2017-03-28T07:41:11","slug":"sosten-gwengwe-wins-mcp-primaries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/03\/28\/sosten-gwengwe-wins-mcp-primaries\/","title":{"rendered":"Sosten Gwengwe wins MCP primaries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former president Joyce Banda\u2019s running mate in the 2014 tripartite elections, Sosten Gwengwe, will contest for the parliamentary seat for Lilongwe Msozi North Constituency on a Malawi Congress Party (MCP) ticket following a landslide victory in primaries that were held yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Five aspirants contested and Gwengwe won with 559 votes out of the 575 votes.<\/p>\n<p>In the elections, Stanley Chimphonda got one vote, Dzoole Mwale got two votes, Celix Dzuwa had two votes while Latson Kathewera won 11 votes.<\/p>\n<p>MCP\u2019s Director of Elections, Maxwell Thyolera said the results are testimony that people have chosen a person they want to represent them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the vote of the grassroots of MCP and they [people] have spoken through the votes and we can see that they have trust in Gwengwe.
