{"id":43244,"date":"2017-03-27T10:59:22","date_gmt":"2017-03-27T08:59:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=43244"},"modified":"2017-03-27T10:59:24","modified_gmt":"2017-03-27T08:59:24","slug":"malawi-womens-team-improves-on-ranking","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/03\/27\/malawi-womens-team-improves-on-ranking\/","title":{"rendered":"Malawi women\u2019s team improves on ranking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Malawi Women\u2019s National Football Team has risen by 12 steps from 123 to position 111 on the Fifa\/Coca-Cola Women\u2019s Football Ranking released on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>In Africa, Malawi is ranked 34th out of 54 teams with Nigeria on top of the continental pile while placed 34th in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Malawi, coached by Stuart Mbolembole, have jumped up after playing friendlies against strong opposition, Tanzania and Zambia, who won 2-0 and 3-2, respectively, last year.<\/p>\n<p>Germany are the highest ranked team in the world.<\/p>\n<p>There are 184 recognised women\u2019s national teams in the world, including those on the stand-by list due to their inactivity.<\/p>\n<p>The movements on the table take into account teams that have risen from the stand-by list into the actual ranking comprising 115 teams.<\/p>\n<p>Fifa website states that the latest table reflects 113 matches played over the past few months.
