Lilongwe based gospel group The Great Angels Choir on Sunday performed at BAT ground in Blantyre during a concert organised by a Christian group.<\/p>\n
The concert which was not well publicised still more attracted a good audience despite that there was also a football match at Kamuzu Stadium involving Bullets FC and Blue Eagles just a few kilometres from BAT.<\/p>\n
The audience which was dominated by women saw people dance on the dusty ground. The dust on the pitch however, did not stop people from jiving to the gospel vibes and by the end of the concert some were drenched in sweat.<\/p>\n
The Great Angels Choir were the main headliners of the concert with Maggie Mangani and Prince Yasin Jenala also performing.<\/p>\n
Mangani was the first to hit the stage before paving the way for Yasin Jenala famed for the hit \u2018Tsogolo Langa,\u2019 with The Great Angels closing the chapter.<\/p>\n
The Great Angels nicknamed the people\u2019s choir for pulling huge audiences during their shows performed for longer periods during the concert and they offered several songs from all their albums.<\/p>\n
It has been sometime since artists held a show at BAT ground but The Great Angels Choir\u2019s member Ephraim Zonda told the audience during the concert that they were happy to perform at BAT and that they have been given food for thought to organise their own show.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis seems to be a perfect venue to hold a concert and we will look into holding a show of our own,\u201d said Zonda.<\/p>\n
The last time the group held their own concert at Robin\u2019s Park in Blantyre, they pulled a gigantic audience which conquered the venue and saw others not making it inside.<\/p>\n
The group has proved to be a force and coming out with their unique style in their songs as well as their live acts. They have also scored a point in their dressing which is always presentable.<\/p>\n
There only minus is that they tend to go off tune during some of their songs and this is the area they need to work on.<\/p>\n
The choir has done well with their fourth album titled Mwasankha Ine <\/em>which has sold several copies and follows the success of their third album Ndiyende Bwanji <\/em>which sold more than 100,000 copies of its DVD.<\/p>\n The Great Angels fourth album which was recorded at Groove Magic by Joseph Tembo with assistance from Chinunda and Lingfold Kabwira, has 10 songs and they include \u2018Musalolele Mulungu,\u2019 \u2018Tadikira,\u2019 \u2018Akuimira Ndani?\u2019 and \u2018Samadziwa Kanthu,\u2019 which they performed during the BAT show.<\/p>\n Great Angels which was set up in the 1980s released their debut album in 2005.
