{"id":43073,"date":"2017-03-24T09:01:17","date_gmt":"2017-03-24T07:01:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=43073"},"modified":"2017-03-24T09:01:18","modified_gmt":"2017-03-24T07:01:18","slug":"evolving-third-eye","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/03\/24\/evolving-third-eye\/","title":{"rendered":"Evolving Third Eye"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mandela Mwanza, well-known hip hop artist and poet, seems to have taken a backseat, a development he attributes to his move to rebrand.<\/p>\n<p>Commonly known as Third Eye, the artist says he has evolved to Mandela Mwanza the social entrepreneur.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from representing Malawi at the 4th African Creative Economy Conference in Morocco in 2014 and his induction into the Mandela Washington Fellowship in 2016, Mandela Mwanza recently made his mark when he successfully released Malawi\u2019s first mobile application for downloading and streaming music in partnership with TNM.<\/p>\n<p>The mobile app, Rediyo, is also home to an online magazine which serves as a social awareness tool targeting the youth.<\/p>\n<p>Mandela Mwanza is also working with high schools in Lilongwe through Malawi\u2019s first thinking club named \u201cThink Tank\u201d which was primarily formed to involve the youth in the process of achieving Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>With an average of 20 students per school and 30 selected schools nationwide, this programme aims to directly empower 600 students by the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>April 8 will, however, mark the long awaited return of Third Eye on the local entertainment scene. The artist will be launching the album he released on December 21 2016 on Rediyo at Bingu International Convention Centre through a joint performance with Kamuzu Academy Orchestra and ABC Ballet.<\/p>\n<p>Guest speakers at the event include Mia Seppo, Laura Kullenberg, Inkosi Ya Makosi Gomani V and Holly Tett.
