Leader of Opposition Lazarus Chakwera has said Malawians should stop accepting wrong things.<\/p>\n
The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President has since appealed for what he calls a mental revolution.<\/p>\n
Chakwera was speaking yesterday at a political rally at Msalura Primary School Ground in Salima.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are talking about things that have become acceptable when they should not be accepted. We are talking about Cashgate which has become a norm, where everyone helps themselves with state funds,\u201d Chakwera said.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cWe are talking about people who are supposed to be trustees actually robbing Malawians. We are talking about such things as Maizegate. And then we have a president that does nothing even after inquiries have been made and recommendations made. Malawi needs to shape up. We need a mental revolution that says evil is evil, stealing is stealing and make sure we move on the right path.\u201d<\/p>\n
During the rally, MCP Second Deputy Secretary General, Eisenhower Mkaka, paraded some people who have joined the party from People\u2019s Progressive Movement (PPM) and People\u2019s Party (PP).<\/p>\n
The list was dominated by PPM district and constituency committee members. Others who joined were former shadow MPs for PP and PPM.<\/p>\n
Chakwera appealed to the party\u2019s supporters to welcome those joining the party.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have an open-door policy. We know that at one stage or another everyone was associated with the MCP. Due to a number of reasons, they disassociated themselves with the party. We need to welcome them back. We need to build this country together,\u201d Chakwera said.<\/p>\n
