Netball Association of Malawi (Nam) President, Rosy Chinunda, wants to vacate her post with dignity ahead of the association\u2019s elections.<\/p>\n
Chinunda insisted that she will not go back on her announcement about retiring from the post.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have been in netball administration since the 1980s. I have done my part. It is time for others to lead netball and I will only be offering support where necessary,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Nam is expected to hold elections at a date and venue yet to be announced.<\/p>\n
Chinunda said she was looking forward to playing an advisory role.<\/p>\n
On the legacy she will leave behind, Chinunda said Malawians were better placed to judge her.<\/p>\n
\u201cI will be leaving my post on a high after Malawi\u2019s best-ever performance at the Fast5 Netball World Series. I know there is great potential for the team to do even better,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
The Queens shocked the world with a third place finish at the series in Australia last year after beating established sides such as Jamaica and England.<\/p>\n
One of the administrators favoured to take over from Chinunda, Southern Region Netball League Chairperson, Khungekile Matiya, is on record to have declined vying for the post after losing in two attempts.<\/p>\n
One of the issues likely to dominate the association\u2019s general assembly will be the financial report which was rejected at the last elections in 2013.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
