{"id":42291,"date":"2017-03-12T08:58:30","date_gmt":"2017-03-12T06:58:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=42291"},"modified":"2017-03-12T08:58:31","modified_gmt":"2017-03-12T06:58:31","slug":"dont-frustrate-sponsors-gangata-warns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/03\/12\/dont-frustrate-sponsors-gangata-warns\/","title":{"rendered":"Don\u2019t frustrate sponsors, Gangata warns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SOUTHERN Region Football Association (SRFA) sponsor has slammed football authorities who frustrate companies and individuals that invest in sports.<\/p>\n<p>Master Security Group Managing Director, Alfred Gangata, made the remarks at Football Association of Malawi\u2019s (Fam) Mpira Village in Chiwembe Township on Friday night during the prize presentation ceremony for SRFA\u2019s outstanding teams for the 2016 season.<\/p>\n<p>Gangata said it was important for football administrators to render support to sponsors especially for lower leagues.<\/p>\n<p>He added that those that risk their fortune by investing in soccer should not be taken for granted and should be fully supported for the sake of football development in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose like us that are promoting football in the country, especially the lower level, should be supported in every sense,\u201d Gangata said. He also hinted that his company is contemplating increasing sponsorship money for SRFA. Gangata did not name the people who frustrate sponsors.<\/p>\n<p>However, he was recently caught up in controversy when the team he owns, Master Security FC, was charged by Fam for player tapping for allegedly enticing Be Forward Wanderers midfielder Joseph Kamwendo to join the newly promoted TNM Super League side. SRFA General Secretary, Raphael Humba, hailed Masters Group for their efforts and contribution to local football.<\/p>\n<p>He said the league has become more competitive due to Masters Security sponsorship.<\/p>\n<p>He hailed Premier Division sides Prison United and Mangochi Police for reaching the quarterfinals stage of the Carlsberg Cup and Nsanama for reaching the quarter-finals stage of the Fisd Challenge Cup. \u201cSuper League football needs the lower league to be vibrant\u00a0as that translates into a very competitive league,\u201d Humba said. He also urged the sponsors to increase t<\/p>\n<p>He also urged the sponsors to increase the sponsorship for the coming season. Fam President, Walter Nyamilandu, applauded Masters Group for promoting football in the country. \u201cFam cannot do everything on its own and the role played by Gangata in the promotion of the country\u2019s football from the grassroots cannot be overstated,\u201d Nyamilandu said.<\/p>\n<p>He also said Fam aims at making Malawi football commercially viable with the introduction of the Club Licensing System initiative. At the ceremony, trophies were officially handed over to the champions of the SRFA Premier Division champions Blantyre United and Central Region Football Association Premier Division kings, Masters Security.<\/p>\n<p>Blantyre United, Mitra Icons and Zomba United got cheques worth K2 million, K750, 000 and K500, 000, respectively after emerging the best top three teams in that order in the Premier Division.<\/p>\n<p>He also said Fam aims at making Malawi football commercially viable with the introduction of the Club Licensing System initiative. Manzikambe, Jali Rangers and Nsanama received cheques worth K750, 000, K500, 000 and K300, 000, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The award for the best electronic media journalist went to Sam Banda, Joy Khakona won the best print media journalist award and Richard Tiyesi was named the best online journalist.<\/p>\n<p>The best top goal scorer award for the Premier Division went to Misheck Bottoman of Mitra Icons who scored 44 goals. Davie Banda, who scored 42 goals for Nsanama, was named top goal scorer for Division One.
