Want-away Azam Tigers Captain, Yamikani Chester, has referred the club to lawyer Chancy Gondwe in a bid to resolve the contractual dispute between the player and the TNM Super League team.<\/p>\n
Chester resigned last month, insisting that he had no contract with the club.<\/p>\n
But Tigers have stood firm that the player\u2019s contract runs up to March 2018.<\/p>\n
In the new twist, the player has written to Tigers that he would not directly be involved in discussions with the club.<\/p>\n
\u201cMeanwhile, I have asked my personal legal counsel, Chancy Gondwe (not former Flames midfielder) to handle all matters relating to this matter with you and Fam [Football Association of Malawi]. This effectively means that you should talk to him if you have any issue regarding my termination,\u201d reads part of the letter.<\/p>\n
The player has also pleaded with Tigers to let him go.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am now writing to your good office to seek assistance so that I am relieved from Tigers as per my letter dated February, 9, 2017. I live on football to put food on the table for my children, to pay house rent, medical bills for my family and in brief, to survive. I am currently not earning income to meet these life needs,\u201d the letter added.<\/p>\n
In response, Tigers Chairperson, Sydney Chikoti, said the team would not stand in the player\u2019s way, but procedures should be followed.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are only two options as far as Tigers are concerned. Firstly, if there is a club interested [in him], they [should] negotiate with us or he buys out his contract at a mutually agreed value,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo us, the clause granted him freedom of movement at any point during the contract period [which we have no problem with] but certainly we have to be compensated.\u201d<\/p>\n
Chester, who has two Flames caps, is versatile and can play in any position upfront.<\/p>\n
