Zimbabwen basketball giants, Harare City Hornets underlined their class when they won Bravehearts International Invitational Tournament.<\/p>\n
Hornets beat Napsa Hurricanes (Zambia) 81-76 in an entertaining final at Mount Sinai International School indoor court on Sunday night.<\/p>\n
It was an all-visitors\u2019 final affair as Malawian teams crashed out of the semi-final stage.<\/p>\n
Bravehearts and Bricks reached the semi-finals but lost to Hornets and Napsa, respectively.<\/p>\n
During the final, the Zimbabwean giants survived a scare from Napsa who gave them a run for their money.<\/p>\n
In the ladies category, Napsa Breeze won gold after beating Bravehearts Ladies of Malawi.<\/p>\n
Hornets, who contribute 12 players to Zimbabwe Basketball National Team, also dominated the individual awards as Neville Chinangaye won the defensive player award whereas assist leader was Simba Mungomezi.<\/p>\n
The Most Valuable Player (MVP) was Titus Njovu from Hurricanes.<\/p>\n
In a post-match reaction, Hornets Team Manager, Talent Marembe, said his charges played their lungs out.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery possession counted and we played according to our game-plan. We have made Zimbabwe proud. Honestly, Malawian teams have improved,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
In the ladies awards, Elizabeth Bwalya scooped the assist leader award whereas the best defensive player prize went to Kalonda Mwale both for Napsa.<\/p>\n
The Most Valuable Player (MVP) was Tendai Ziko Napsa.<\/p>\n
