The former Blue Eagles skipper yesterday confirmed that Nampula Coach, Salvado, handed him the armband during the pre-season.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe said he had trust in me to lead the team. Language is not a problem. I am able to communicate well [in Portuguese]. Some of the guys also understand English,\u201d Banda said.<\/p>\n
\u201cLooking at the fact that I am a foreigner, this means a lot to me. This will help up my game as every time I need to perform well.\u201d<\/p>\n
Nampula is also home to other Malawian footballers Zicco Mkanda, Schumacher Kuwali and Ndaziona Chatsalira.<\/p>\n
Save for Mkanda, the rest of the Malawians featured for Nampula as they drew 1-1 away to Vilankulo on Saturday. Kuwali scored for Nampula.<\/p>\n
Still in Mozambique, other Malawians Charles Swini and Frank Banda had a winning start to the season as their Tete-based team Songo saw off Maio 2-0 on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Elsewhere Chibuto FC, whose players include former Silver Strikers forward Chawanangwa Kawonga, defeated Ferroviaro de Nacala 2-0 also on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Mozambique is the biggest importer of Malawian players including Dangalira Mnelemba, Clement Mvula, Moses Chavula, Sankhani Nyirenda, Lazarus Nyoni, Nelson Kangunje, Idrisa Walesi, Richard Mbulu, Joseph Kachule and Dave Mphaya.<\/p>\n
