When music lovers, after a long time of listening to the same songs and developing a liking for them, become part of the gravity of a musician\u2019s compositions, there is no way time can bury their love for music.<\/p>\n
That is why some people\u2019s liking for songs composed before the 1994 elections has stretched into 2017, and probably beyond.<\/p>\n
Who else better represents the enduring power of music than veteran musician Paul Banda?<\/p>\n
The Balaka-based musician on Sunday attracted all the attention to himself outside Mibawa Multi-Purpose Hall in Blantyre\u2014 even before his actual performance actually begun.<\/p>\n
Artists, ranging from poets, musicians and mimickers\u2014such as renowned mimicker, playwright and actor\u2014 Frank Naligonje, thronged him.<\/p>\n
And Paul, for once turning his attention to the people who thronged him and not his guitar, kept on smiling. That broad, knowing smile of a man who has scaled the heights in music, without losing those attributes that make us human.<\/p>\n
And, for once, The Daily Times <\/em>arts crew went to the show just to observe how Banda spent his time outside the hall.
