{"id":41590,"date":"2017-03-01T08:59:34","date_gmt":"2017-03-01T06:59:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=41590"},"modified":"2017-03-01T08:59:38","modified_gmt":"2017-03-01T06:59:38","slug":"malawian-referees-on-caf-duty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/03\/01\/malawian-referees-on-caf-duty\/","title":{"rendered":"Malawian referees on Caf duty"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Confederation of African Football (Caf) has assigned three Malawian referees a high profile game for the Confederation Cup this month.<\/p>\n<p>Fifa referee Dennis Ngulube will take charge of a first round match in Burundi between hosts Ngozi FC and Zambian giants Zesco on the weekend of March 18.<\/p>\n<p>A statement from Caf added that Ngulube\u2019s compatriots Edward Kambatuwa and Hendrix Misinde will, during the match, work as first and second assistant referees, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Another Malawian, Duncan Lengani, will serve as a fourth official for the game at Bujumbura\u2019s National Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, Caf also assigned Malawian, Ishmael Chizinga, a Confederation Cup preliminary round game in Harare between Zimbabwe\u2019s Ngezi Platinum Stars and Pamplemousses SC of Mauritius<\/p>\n<p>Bester Kalombo, Bernadetter Kwimbira-Nzika and Moffat Champiti are among the few Malawians to have officiated in big continental and world events such as the Africa Cup of Nations finals and the Olympic Games.<\/p>\n<p>The stunted domestic football standards and lack of local clubs\u2019 involvement in international competitions also undermine Malawian referees\u2019 progress.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Confederation of African Football (Caf) has assigned three Malawian referees a high profile game for the Confederation Cup this month.
