{"id":41578,"date":"2017-03-01T08:47:46","date_gmt":"2017-03-01T06:47:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=41578"},"modified":"2017-03-01T08:47:49","modified_gmt":"2017-03-01T06:47:49","slug":"lusubilo-band-back-from-korea","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/03\/01\/lusubilo-band-back-from-korea\/","title":{"rendered":"Lusubilo Band back from Korea"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Karonga-based Lusubilo Band returned from their 10-day Art Dream Camp in Korea on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Lusubilo Music Centre Director, Professor Agnes Kim, who accompanied the band, described the camp as a success.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was not just a mere visit. It was a success in that the band put up an impressive performance. They represented Malawi well,\u201d Kim said.<\/p>\n<p>She said, apart from giving out their best in terms of performance, Lusubilo Band also had a chance to share ideas with colleagues from other countries such as Vietnam, Colombia and Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Kim has said that one of the students who was studying music at the Korean National University of Art has graduated and returned home with the band.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLumbani Munthali, our trumpet player, has graduated after finishing his four years of study and achieved a Bachelor of Classical Music. I am very happy because he will be our main teacher at the Lusubilo Music Centre. We also have two students who will graduate in August,\u201d Kim said.<\/p>\n<p>Kim, who studied music, said her aim is to help grow talent as well as uplift the creative industry in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Lusubilo Band last year collaborated with German group, Andromeda Express, and Ulimba from Nsanje in a project known as \u2018What Boundaries?\u2019.
