Dwangwa United\u2019s pre-season preparations might be jeopardised as the team is reportedly in financial crisis.<\/p>\n
With two months to go before the 2017 TNM Super League season\u2019s kick-off, Dwangwa is yet to get sponsorship.<\/p>\n
The team\u2019s traditional sponsors have not yet hinted if they will rescue the team. The team\u2019s Executive Committee proposed a budget of K76 million for this season.<\/p>\n
Dwangwa Board of Trustee Chairperson, Frank Mphande, said the team would get sponsorship by next month.<\/p>\n
\u201cTalks with companies that operate within Dwangwa are underway and I cannot pre-empt what we have discussed so far but let me assure you that by March we will have a sponsor,\u201d Mphande said.<\/p>\n
He admitted that currently the team was in financial problems.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have not paid our players and coaches for almost two months now but we are hopeful that the companies who have been with us all along, won\u2019t abandon us,\u201d Mphande said.<\/p>\n
Last season, the team had a smooth year when Illovo and Ethanol companies donated K30 million and K2 million, respectively to the team.<\/p>\n
The sponsorship boosted the team\u2019s survival campaign and managed to avoid relegation.<\/p>\n
Currently in a bid to raise funds to assist the team\u2019s operations, Dwangwa has introduced an annual membership fee of K5,000.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
