TNM Super League giants, Nyasa Big Bullets have named defender John Lanjesi as the club\u2019s new captain, replacing Chiukepo Msowoya who joined South Africa\u2019s Golden Arrows.<\/p>\n
Another defender Yamikani Fodya will deputise Lanjesi, who on Thursday confirmed his appointment.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am humbled. I don\u2019t take it for granted. I did not expect it because I know Bullets have a lot of good players capable of leading the team,\u201d Lanjesi said.<\/p>\n
Bullets experienced defender George Nyirenda welcomed Lanjesi\u2019s appointment.<\/p>\n
\u201cBefore the coach made the choice, he gave the opportunity for the players to do so and they failed. He eventually made his choice and that is why the players support the coach\u2019s decision,\u201d Nyirenda explained.<\/p>\n
It is Lanjesi\u2019s second season at the People\u2019s Team. Bullets have other senior players such as Fischer Kondowe, Pilirani Zonda, Bashir Maunde and Henry Kabichi. Zonda was among the deputy skippers last season.<\/p>\n
Bullets Coach, Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan, could not be reached on Thursday.<\/p>\n
But Bullets Trustees Genera Secretary, Jim Kalua, confirmed the choice of Lanjesi. The defender is experienced and can play as either a centre back or right back.<\/p>\n
The captaincy is a big issue at clubs such as Bullets, Be Forward Wanderers and Silver Strikers.<\/p>\n
Inside sources said that some Bullets senior players are not happy with the choice of Lanjesi.<\/p>\n
Lanjesi moved to Bullets from Civo United on a two-year deal alongside fellow defender Emmanuel Zoya.<\/p>\n
