{"id":40783,"date":"2017-02-15T09:36:49","date_gmt":"2017-02-15T07:36:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=40783"},"modified":"2017-02-15T09:36:50","modified_gmt":"2017-02-15T07:36:50","slug":"mtl-unveils-show-some-love-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/02\/15\/mtl-unveils-show-some-love-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"MTL unveils \u2018Show some love\u2019 campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As Malawians joined the rest of the world to celebrate love on Valentine\u2019s Day, the Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL) on Monday unveiled the Show Some Love campaigned aimed at encouraging Malawians to contribute towards the fight against childhood cancer.<\/p>\n<p>MTL also donated a yearlong internet connection to the Oncology Ward at the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) to enable medics research on diagnosis and possible treatment of the ailment.<\/p>\n<p>MTL Chief Executive Officer, Harry Gombachika, said the donation was part of the company\u2019s corporate social responsibility as a contribution towards the fight against childhood cancer which is claiming many lives.<\/p>\n<p>Gombachika said through the high speed interne t connection, doctors at the hospital will be able to connect with researchers across the world on how to treat the disease.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is consistent with our values and one of our goals, of contributing to sustainable economic development by working with employees, their families, the local community and society at large to improve the quality of life, as a company we believe that through acts like these, we can empower various stakeholders and make a difference in the environment around us.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough the same campaign we empower others to make a difference in the lives of children suffering from cancer by making a small contribution through the special bundles which we have exclusively created for this cause,\u201d said Gombachika.<\/p>\n<p>According to MTL Head of Marketing, Chimwemwe Khonje, through the month long Show some love campaign, MTL internet customers will be given an option to support the fight against childhood cancer by paying an extra charge for internet bundles, whose funds will go to the oncology ward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the campaign, we are calling on our Minet customers to show some love to the kids by paying an average of six percent more for the internet bundles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the end of the campaign MTL will double the amount of money collected and present it to the ward. We believe that by doing so we will help in the fight against childhood cancer,\u201d said Khonje.<\/p>\n<p>He added that those who are not MTL internet customers could also show some love by liking the company\u2019s Facebook page, adding that lucky people will win various prizes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou could also take part in the campaign by just taking a picture of yourself showing some love to anyone and forward it to #showsomelove,\u201d said Khonje.<\/p>\n<p>MTL has also presented a K500,000 cheque to Cancer Survivors Quest to help the organisation in its fight against childhood cancer.<\/p>\n<p>Chikhulupiliro Ng\u2019ombe of Cancer Survivors Quest hailed MTL for its commitment towards the fight against childhood cancer in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Ng\u2019ombe said the most important thing that the children with cancer need is hope that they will get better.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As Malawians joined the rest of the world to celebrate love on Valentine\u2019s Day, the Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL) on Monday unveiled the Show Some Love campaigned aimed at encouraging Malawians to contribute towards the fight against childhood cancer.
