Arrows went on to win the match 2-1.

Msowoya was sent for an early shower after a second bookable offence, barely three days after scoring an own goal (OG) on his debut when Arrows lost 5-2 to SuperSport United. Nonetheless, Arrows’ Coach, Clinton Larsen, was pleased that his charges bounced back through second-half goals from Nkanyiso Cele and Knox Mutizwa.

“A good response was needed after our defeat to SuperSport and that is exactly what we got from our players,” Larsen told www. goldenarrowsfc.com “We started brightly and created numerous chances but failed to take any. It was disappointing to go into the break at 0-0. We deservedly took the lead early in the second half through a Cele penalty after [Kudakwashe] Mahachi was brought down but conceded shortly thereafter.

“Msowoya received an innocuous second yellow and we had to see out most of the secondhalf a man short. The fighting spirit shown by the players to defend our lead was nothing short of exemplary.” Msowoya will miss two games due to the red card, thereby compromising his chances of regular football.

However, Celtic’s Malawian co-Coach, John Maduka, yesterday said he expects Msowoya to get back on his feet. “It is one of those things. It is difficult to say if he didn’t deserve the second yellow card but once you receive the first yellow card, it is always tricky. Any slight mistake can result in a red,” Maduka said in a telephone interview.

“Msowoya is one of those strikers who, when he does not have the ball, puts pressure on the defenders hence it should not be surprising that he scored an OG. He works hard for the team. I was also like that.”

The Flames’ forward has made a return to the PSL earlier unsuccessful stints with Orlando Pirates who eventually shipped him to Platinum Stars on loan a few years ago.

The former Escom United forward was Bullets’ top league scorer with 17 goals last season.
