{"id":40549,"date":"2017-02-10T10:00:53","date_gmt":"2017-02-10T08:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=40549"},"modified":"2017-02-10T10:00:53","modified_gmt":"2017-02-10T08:00:53","slug":"4-nation-basketball-tourney-on-the-cards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/02\/10\/4-nation-basketball-tourney-on-the-cards\/","title":{"rendered":"4-nation basketball tourney on the cards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lilongwe-based basketball giants, Bravehearts, have organised an international tournament involving teams from four countries.<\/p>\n<p>The tournament is scheduled for Mount Sinai International High School from March 3 to 5.<\/p>\n<p>The tournament will involve 15 female and male basketball teams from Zambia, Zimbabwe and Tanzania.<\/p>\n<p>Announcing the news in Lilongwe yesterday, Bravehearts\u2019 Programme Coordinator, Dominic Munyenyembe, said the tournament would offer exposure to local basketballers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur aim is to take basketball to another level and we are committed to continue sponsoring the sport. We believe the tournament will be a good platform to expose local players,\u201d Munyenyembe said.<\/p>\n<p>G.Y Imports and Exports and its sister company, DR Print, have pumped in K7 million for the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Basketball Association of Malawi (Basmal) General Secretary, Edgar Ng\u2019ong\u2019ola, hailed Bravehearts and G.Y Imports and Exports for coming up with the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Zimbabwean basketball giants, Harare City Hornets will take part in the tournament alongside Falcons, Foxes, Vixens (also from Zimbabwe), Napsa (Zambia) and Mbeya Flames from Tanzania.<\/p>\n<p>Central Knights, Bricks and Bravehearts will represent Malawi during the tournament in the men\u2019s category.<\/p>\n<p>Bravehearts Ladies, Mystics and Angels will also be part of the event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lilongwe-based basketball giants, Bravehearts, have organised an international tournament involving teams from four countries.
