{"id":40330,"date":"2017-02-07T11:14:02","date_gmt":"2017-02-07T09:14:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=40330"},"modified":"2017-02-07T11:14:03","modified_gmt":"2017-02-07T09:14:03","slug":"blantyre-reduces-crime-rate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/02\/07\/blantyre-reduces-crime-rate\/","title":{"rendered":"Blantyre reduces crime rate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police in Blantyre say they have reduced crime rate by 31 percent in the first month of this year compared to the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p>A statement released by Blantyre Police states that Blantyre has so far recorded 460 cases of crime against last year\u2019s 671.<\/p>\n<p>The statement has captured crime cases from Blantyre\u2019s five policing areas of Blantyre, Ndirande, Chilomoni, Soche and Milare.<\/p>\n<p>It says Blantyre Police recorded 214 criminal cases this year against 358 last year Ndirande recorded 54 cases against 75 last year, Chilomoni registered 44 cases against 51 last year, Soche recorded 126 cases against 134 last year while Milare recorded 22 cases against last year\u2019s 53.<\/p>\n<p>Blantyre Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Andrew Mayawo, said the police intensified patrols in the city which has led to the drop in crime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe police officers know what they were employed for. They are dedicated in their patrols.
