With vultures hunting for players on the open players\u2019 market, Be Forward Wanderers are not taking chances on their striker-in-chief, Peter Wadabwa.<\/p>\n
With a year to go before the end of his two-year contract signed last season, Wanderers\u2019 General Secretary, Mike Butao, has confirmed that they have opened contract extension talk.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe has a year remaining on his contract, but at Wanderers, we do not wait for a contract to end,\u201d Butao said on Thursday.<\/p>\n
He shrugged off talk that Wanderers might be scared of losing the forward to his former employer, Silver Strikers, who are linked with the Nomads\u2019 star midfielder, Joseph Kamwendo.<\/p>\n
Silver seem determined to invade Wanderers after they signed defender Lucky Malata from the Bankers as a free agent.<\/p>\n
But Butao said they were not shaken, whereas his Silver counterpart, Thabo Nyirenda kept a tight lid on the players they are targeting.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf we signed Malata, it is not our problem as the player was not on a contract,\u201d Butao said.<\/p>\n
Nyirenda, who said they admire Kamwendo\u2019s qualities, refused to disclose the identity of their targets.<\/p>\n
