Following the controversy that surrounded their trials in Japan, Be Forward Wanderers\u2019 seasoned winger Joseph Kamwendo and striker Peter Wadabwa sneaked back home on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Kamwendo yesterday refused to engage in talk about the trip. Earlier, the two players told the local media that they were bitter after reportedly being made to train with a nondescript university college team.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey [Be Forward Limited] wanted to extend the days of our visas but it was not possible,\u201d the well-travelled midfielder, sounding annoyed, said yesterday.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs for the way forward, talk to the General Secretary [Mike Butao]. The sponsor must have communicated to him. I do not want to comment much. I just want to have a rest.\u201d<\/p>\n
Butao was unavailable as we went to press yesterday.<\/p>\n
The two players asked to be flown back after claiming that the team they were supposed to train with Japanese Second Division outfit\u2014Yokohama FC\u2014 was on off-season break.<\/p>\n
Despite the players\u2019 claims , Yokohama\u2019s website indicates that they are still active on the transfer market, making signings.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring the training camp period scheduled to be held in Nichinan, Miyazaki Prefecture (January 25 – February 12), Yokohama FC goods will be sold,\u201d reads a translated version of updates on the club\u2019s website.<\/p>\n
The Japan Times <\/em>newspaper\u2019s edition of last week, on www.japantimes. co.jp <\/em>also reported on Yokohama\u2019s transfer activities.<\/p>\n \u201cFormer Japan striker Kazuyoshi Miura, the oldest active player in the J. League at 49, has renewed his contract with Yokohama FC for this season,\u201d reads the article in part.<\/p>\n In a telephone interview from Tokyo last week, Wadabwa told The Daily Times <\/em>that he only had one training session with a college team and he picked up an injury.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have observed that Wanderers missed the timing of the dates of our arrival here.
