Flames\u2019 legend Chancy Gondwe has explained why he is gearing up to contest for an executive committee member position during Nyasa Big Bullets\u2019 elections.<\/p>\n
Gondwe, who played for Bullets before joining South Africa\u2019s Mamelodi Sundowns in the 1990s, said once elected, he wants to promote players\u2019 interests.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have been a player for a long time. I know what players want team officials to do for them. If I make it, I will represent their interests,\u201d Gondwe said.<\/p>\n
He said it was time for the club\u2019s former players to be given a chance to run the team.<\/p>\n
While acknowledging that several former players of the team have been employed before as coaching panel members, Gondwe reiterated the need for the retired stars to hold influential positions of the club.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am thankful to the club for employing former players in various capacities. But such positions have no influence on the running of the club. We also need to be voted into decision-making positions to change things for the betterment of our players,\u201d Gondwe explained.<\/p>\n
He, therefore, called on voters at the polls, scheduled for next month in Blantyre, to entrust him with their votes for the sake of the team\u2019s players.<\/p>\n
Bullets trustees initially announced that there will be no executive committee elections but changed their minds after a meeting with the club\u2019s supporters committee.<\/p>\n
