{"id":39359,"date":"2017-01-20T09:24:25","date_gmt":"2017-01-20T07:24:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=39359"},"modified":"2017-01-20T09:24:25","modified_gmt":"2017-01-20T07:24:25","slug":"fam-offers-bingu-national-stadium-parking-land","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/01\/20\/fam-offers-bingu-national-stadium-parking-land\/","title":{"rendered":"Fam offers Bingu National Stadium parking land"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has offered part of its land for parking of vehicles during the official opening ceremony of Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on January 28.<\/p>\n<p>Shortage of parking space was one of the major challenges during the first match played at the facility on January 2, between Nyasa Big Bullets and Be Forward Wanderers.<\/p>\n<p>It took most motorists over two hours to find their way out of the stadium on the day.<\/p>\n<p>Fam General Secretary, Alfred Gunda, said their piece of land is adjacent to the stadium.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also noted that the roads leading to the stadium are not spacious enough to accommodate the traffic. So, we offered part of our land next to the stadium to help ease the problem,\u201d Gunda said.<\/p>\n<p>Organising committee\u2019s media and publicity sub-committee Chairperson, Gedion Munthali, said clearing of the land was underway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do not want people to be held up at the stadium. We want them to leave the facility in the shortest time possible. With Fam\u2019s offer, we will have enough land for parking of vehicles during the opening ceremony,\u201d Munthali said.<\/p>\n<p>He said traffic police officers will be deployed to ensure order.<\/p>\n<p>Munthali also disclosed that all 46 gates at the facility will be open to facilitate speedy entry and exit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe [during the Bullets v Wanderers\u2019 match] noted that it took spectators too long to leave the stadium because not all gates were open,\u201d Munthali said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has offered part of its land for parking of vehicles during the official opening ceremony of Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on January 28.
