Silver Strikers have admitted that it would be difficult to keep their captain Lucky Malata, whose contract expires this month.<\/p>\n
The Bankers\u2019 interim General Secretary, Thabo Nyirenda, on Tuesday claimed that Malata was demanding K5 million for him to renew the contract. The player was not available for a comment on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Nyirenda said their negotiations with the captain were being undermined by other offers, which Blantyre giants, Be Forward Wanderers and Nyasa Big Bullets, have reportedly made on the Flames\u2019 centre-back.<\/p>\n
He hinted that they might let go the defender and focus on up-and-coming players who are undergoing trials at the club.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe is our captain and he has been with us in the past six years. We have not been approached by any club, but we understand that Bullets and Wanderers are also eyeing him. He told us that BB have offered him K4.5 million, yet he wants us to give him K5 million,\u201d Nyirenda said.<\/p>\n
On Monday, Malata reportedly signed a pre-contract with Wanderers, but the Lali Lubani side has been reluctant to comment on the matter.<\/p>\n
The Nomads vice-General Secretary, Christopher Kananji, on Sunday said securing Malata can boost Wanderers\u2019 defence.<\/p>\n
Kananji added that they want to strengthen their squad to challenge for the TNM Super League championship next season.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe is among of our targets, but I cannot say that he has signed for us because we are yet to finalise some logistics,\u201d Kananji said.<\/p>\n
Bullets\u2019 interim General Secretary, Bizzy Kalozeni, yesterday said he was not aware of the club\u2019s interest in the defender.<\/p>\n
