Both parties pretended as though we are united. However, the good thing is that the SG [Mphepo] said he will report everything that transpired in the meeting to the President. Therefore, the President is to decide based on the reports,” said the source.

However, p a r t y ’s spokesperson, Francis Kasaila, refused to comment on the meeting in question, arguing it is an in-house matter.

“The party is aware of the differences in the Northern Region that is why our SG is putting in effort to resolve them. This is a process and we believe we will end the conflicts amicably, however I am sorry we cannot disclose to the media the issue which is within in our house.” Kasaila said.

President Peter Mutharika has ordered some Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) members from the Northern Region, who are pushing for the removal of Regional Governor Kenneth Sanga— to leave the party if they are not ready to work with the current leadership.
