Nyasa Big Bullets have taken a gamble by keeping options open on the expiring contracts of senior players, Chiukepo Msowoya, Chikumbutso Kanyenda and Fischer Kondowe.<\/p>\n
After next month when the players\u2019 one-year contracts expire, they can become free agents and join teams of their choice without paying Bullets a transfer fee.<\/p>\n
Bullets vice-Chairperson Austin Kasito, on Sunday confirmed that the trio\u2019s one-year contracts will expire next month, but fell short of guaranteeing renewal.<\/p>\n
With the uncertainty on the contract extensions, Msowoya is reportedly attending trials with South Africa Absa Premier Soccer League team, Golden Arrows.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is true that we gave them one-year contracts, but the Executive Committee is yet to decide whether to renew the contracts. We will have to agree with them on whether they want to have the contracts extended or leave. The final decision rests on the technical panel\u2019s recommendation,\u201d Kasito said.<\/p>\n
He admitted that it was a gamble leaving the options open on the players, attributing this to the fact that the club\u2019s focus was on the forthcoming annual general meeting on January 28 \u201cinstead of focusing on rebuilding first.\u201d<\/p>\n
Msowoya and Kanyenda were not readily available for a comment, but Kondowe confirmed his status with Bullets. Msowoya was Bullets\u2019 leading striker after scoring 17 league goals.<\/p>\n
Kanyenda provided defensive cover when there was a crisis at Bullets whereas Kondowe remains an influential figure in the team, largely owing to his strong character.<\/p>\n
