Former Nyasa Big Bullets chairperson, Malinda Chinyama, has backed the idea to cancel the team\u2019s executive committee elections.<\/p>\n
The elections were slated for February, with plans that they would be held simultaneously with those of the supporters\u2019 committee.<\/p>\n
Chinyama, who is a Bullets trustee speaking in his personal capacity, said he did not see the relevance of the committee as it just increases the team\u2019s cost since it is serves as a duplication of roles.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe set up a commercialisaton committee and we are moving forward with the club licensing idea which suggested that we should have a secretariat. So, if we go ahead and conduct the executive [committee] elections, what will be the use of the secretariat? Elections do not exist when you are going commercial,\u201d Chinyama said.<\/p>\n
He said those who wish to be part of the elections should join the supporters committee, which is set to hold elections.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, supporter\u2019s Chairperson, Stone Mwamadi, has insisted that the team would hold both elections as per Bullets\u2019 constitution.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are geared to conduct the elections, beginning with the supporters\u2019 committee and, then, the executive [committee] unless the Board of Trustees amends the constitution. It will be like we are against the authorities, but we are following the right procedure and we will politely ask them to follow the procedure as we did in 2014 when supporters held elections. You know that, all along, we were denied the opportunity to hold elections until we approached them and they gave us the go ahead,\u201d Mwamadi said.<\/p>\n
Initially, the team announced that it would hold two elections, before entertaining a change of mind.<\/p>\n
