{"id":38514,"date":"2017-01-06T10:04:43","date_gmt":"2017-01-06T08:04:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=38514"},"modified":"2017-01-06T10:04:44","modified_gmt":"2017-01-06T08:04:44","slug":"mussa-ajibu-zimbabwean-headline-maba-fights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/01\/06\/mussa-ajibu-zimbabwean-headline-maba-fights\/","title":{"rendered":"Mussa Ajibu, Zimbabwean headline Maba fights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Local heavyweight boxer, Mussa \u2018Big Elephant\u2019 Ajibu, is expected to take on Zimbabwean, Tineyi \u2018 Snake Kid\u2019 Maridzo, in a cruiserweight fight at M1 Centre Point in Lilongwe on February 5.<\/p>\n<p>Malawi Boxing Association (Maba) Professional Boxing Control Board has organised the contest dubbed \u2018Game of Legends.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Both boxers have good records with Ajibu popular for his knock-outs.<\/p>\n<p>Maridzo is experienced having previously won the Africa Superweight title.<\/p>\n<p>The board\u2019s Chairperson, Daud Chikwanje, said preparations for the bout were at advanced stage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the biggest fight in 2017 and we want to give boxing fans something special. We hope that the fight will live up to expectations. We are also appealing to companies and individuals to be part of the big event,\u201d Chikwanje said.<\/p>\n<p>The bout is part of Maba\u2019s early talent identification for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games in Japan.<\/p>\n<p>Chikwanje said the budget for the bout was K2.5 million.
