{"id":38443,"date":"2017-01-05T10:48:51","date_gmt":"2017-01-05T08:48:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=38443"},"modified":"2017-01-05T10:48:54","modified_gmt":"2017-01-05T08:48:54","slug":"stansfield-motors-in-blood-donation-drive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/01\/05\/stansfield-motors-in-blood-donation-drive\/","title":{"rendered":"Stansfield Motors in blood donation drive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Staff from Stansfield Motors recently donated blood to the Malawi Blood Transfusion Service (MBTS) to help the institution meet rising demand for blood in health facilities.<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s Customer Relations Officer, Famida Daudi, said they decided to donate in an effort to save lives.<\/p>\n<p>She said every day all the hospitals and clinics in the country need blood to treat patients hence the need for blood donations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBlood is the most precious gift that anyone can give to another person. It is the gift of life. That is why we thought of donating to MBTS so that we should save lives of people who are in dire need of blood,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Daudi further called on other institutions to emulate the example in order to save lives of many.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs companies, we need to encourage our employees to donate blood.<\/p>\n<p>With of reports of rising blood shortages in hospitals, there is need for a collective approach from the general public,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n<p>According to MBTS, Malawi requires 10,000 units of blood this month due to the high incidences of Malaria-induced anaemia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Staff from Stansfield Motors recently donated blood to the Malawi Blood Transfusion Service (MBTS) to help the institution meet rising demand for blood in health facilities.
