{"id":38368,"date":"2017-01-04T09:57:36","date_gmt":"2017-01-04T07:57:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=38368"},"modified":"2017-01-04T09:57:37","modified_gmt":"2017-01-04T07:57:37","slug":"chitipa-united-to-beef-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2017\/01\/04\/chitipa-united-to-beef-up\/","title":{"rendered":"Chitipa United to beef up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Newly-crowned champions for the Simama Premier Division, Chitipa United, will beef up their squad in preparation for the 2017 TNM Super League season.<\/p>\n<p>The Northern Region Football Association\u2019s (NRFA) ambassadors earned promotion in their debut season in the division, outclassing old timers such as last year\u2019s champions, Chilumba Barracks FC.<\/p>\n<p>An official for the team, George Ndenga, on Monday said the team will off-load some players for experienced ones.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe should not be carried away with our performance in the Premier Division since the Super League is tougher. We will bank on other teams in the Premier Division for players, so that we can form a strong squad,\u201d Ndenga said.<\/p>\n<p>NRFA Fixtures\u2019 Secretary, Ollens Msonda, asked other teams to support Chitipa for them to survive in the elite league.<\/p>\n<p>The team\u2019s striker, Abel Mwakilama, topped the goal scorers\u2019 list with 38 goals followed by Kaporo Stars\u2019 Suzgo Siyeni with 35 goals.<\/p>\n<p>Chitipa finished the division with 89 points followed by Kaporo\u2019s 85.
