Former Civo United vice-chairperson, Dean Josiah Banda, is reportedly weighing the pros and cons of sacrificing his club Epac FC for Civo United\u2019s survival in the TNM Super League.<\/p>\n
Civo, who host Azam Tigers in an academic match this afternoon, were relegated last Friday after losing 0-1 to the league\u2019s defending champions, Nyasa Big Bullets, at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.<\/p>\n
Before facing Bullets last week, Banda met Civo Executive Committee, the technical panel and players over the team\u2019s decline. Civo have been relegated for the first time in the league\u2019s 30-year-old history.<\/p>\n
However, Banda and Civo General Secretary, Ronald Chiwaula, dismissed talk that the meeting discussed a plan B for Civo\u2019s survival in the top-flight league.<\/p>\n
Banda said he was bitter that one of the biggest clubs in the Central Region has been relegated, ending its 30-year journey in the top-flight league.<\/p>\n
\u201cYes, it is true that I met the team\u2019s officials after learning that the team was on the verge of relegation. I even asked the technical panel on whether they had a game-plan at all. I even told them that \u2018you have brought shame to Civo\u2019s family,\u201d Banda said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey have brought a mess to Civo and they must sort it out on their own.<\/p>\n
Which team can they buy in the elite league so that they can still be playing? The answer is no! During the meeting, we did not discuss about allowing my team Epac to go to Chipiku and Civo remaining in the Super League. I cannot do that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Chiwaula said the team will work hard in Chipiku Premier Division of the Central Region Football Association so as to earn Super League promotion.<\/p>\n
\u201cI do not think this is true because it can involve a long procedure. We just apologise to our fans that the team did not perform well this season and we take the blame,\u201d Chiwaula said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
