{"id":38203,"date":"2016-12-31T10:13:43","date_gmt":"2016-12-31T08:13:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.times.mw\/?p=38203"},"modified":"2016-12-31T10:13:48","modified_gmt":"2016-12-31T08:13:48","slug":"boxer-salimu-chazama-slams-judges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/archive.times.mw\/index.php\/2016\/12\/31\/boxer-salimu-chazama-slams-judges\/","title":{"rendered":"Boxer Salimu Chazama slams judges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former national lightweight champion, Salimu Chazama, has launched a stinging attack on fellow boxer, Osgood Kayuni, and local judges ahead of tomorrow\u2019s junior welterweight title contest in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n<p>Chazama will meet Kayuni in a 12-round title contest at M1 Centre Point.<\/p>\n<p>This will be a rematch after Kayuni won on a split points\u2019 decision on December 26 last year.<\/p>\n<p>Last year\u2019s contest split Kamuzu Barracks Club to which both boxers belong with most supporting Kayuni. Both boxers are soldiers.<\/p>\n<p>Some quarters criticised Chazama for a bad attitude.<\/p>\n<p>Now Chazama has said he has lost faith in most local judges.<\/p>\n<p>He added that it would be suicidal for him if the fight goes to the wire as the judges might favour Kayuni.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will not leave the fight in the judges\u2019 hands. I am going for a knock-out. Last time, I was bitter with their decision. I felt that I won and some quarters even agreed but the judges gave the fight to Kayuni,\u201d Chazama said.<\/p>\n<p>However, Kayuni said he would not waste time commenting on the past.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf he says that he was robbed of victory, then it is history. It cannot be changed. Let us just concentrate on the forthcoming title fight,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Meka Boxing Promotions has organised the bill.
