Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation\u2019s (Admarc) Chief Executive Office (CEO) Foster Mulumbe has obtained a court injunction stopping Times Group from publishing what the court document calls \u201cfalse and untrue\u201d stories about him and the corporation.<\/p>\n
Times Group\u2019s publication The Daily Times <\/em>has been carrying a series of revealing stories about a suspicious maize deal between Admarc and a Zambian company Kaloswe Commuter and Courier Limited.<\/p>\n In the stories in question, The Daily Times <\/em>paraded documents of the deal between Admarc and the Zambian company which Mulumbe duly signed.<\/p>\n Despite the documents with his signature, Mulumbe has been denying involvement in the deal.<\/p>\n According to the court injunction, Admarc and Mulumbe, who are first and second plaintiffs respectively, are stopping Reporter Ntchindi Meki, The Daily Time<\/em>s\u2019 Assistant Editor, Madalitso Musa, and Blantyre Newspapers Limited, company under Times Group\u2014 who are first, second and third defendants respectively\u2014from writing about the maize deal.<\/p>\n \u201cThis order restrains you, either by yourself, your servant, agents or whosoever other from publishing and\/ or broadcasting false and untrue stories about the Plaintiffs in relation to the procurement of maize from the Republic of Zambia and\/ or anything related thereto until determination of this matter or until a further Order of the Court.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you disobey this order, you may be found guilty of contempt of court and may be sent to prison or fined or your assets may be seized,\u201d reads the court order.<\/p>\n When asked for his comment, Musa, while wondering why he has been included on the list of defendants, said:<\/p>\n \u201cIs it because of my opinion in the column Tales of Time<\/em>? Well if that is the case then I always know the truth has a way of always coming out. I am a professional and law-abiding citizen.
