United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has donated uniforms to be used by nurses, doctors and patients at Chatinkha Maternity Care (Chamaca) Ward of the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH).<\/p>\n
The donation comes at a time when nurses, doctors and patients are in need of gowns, uniforms and other theatre materials as these are some of the essential requirements of their everyday job.<\/p>\n
Speaking after the symbolic presentation of the donation, Chief Nursing Officer at QECH, Lucy Chigwenembe, said the donation has come at a good time and will help ease the problem the hospital is currently facing.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are very grateful to UNFPA for the timely help. We are in need of so many things and this is one of them. We are going to start [the year] 2017 on a good note as all of us here will benefit from these uniforms and gowns. Clean materials are very essential because of the nature of the work we do,\u201d Chigwenembe said.<\/p>\n
Chigwenembe further called for more assistance from other well-wishers.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a ward, we need so many things and we still call upon well-wishers to come and help us. For us to give the best services we need to be fully equipped,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Chairman for Chamaca, Frank Taulo, called on the nurses to maintain and improve on their attitude in this coming year.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was just trying to remind them that they need to treat our patients with love and care. In the year 2017, we should not have cases of patients complaining that they were not treated well. I was also trying to remind them that patients are people that need care because they come to us with hope,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
