Artists are able to rate their success through local and international awards.<\/p>\n<p>However, it is very rare for local artists to earn international accolades, perhaps because their music is deemed not good enough to break even on the international scene.<\/p>\n<p>Not with Tay Grin who has proved, yet again, that his music is good enough by bringing home a second international award this year.<\/p>\n<p>The self-styled Nyau King has won the best African traditional video of the year in Watsup TV Africa Music Awards (Wamva), courtesy of his children folk song <em>Chipapapa<\/em>, which features Nigerian star TuBaba,<\/p>\n<p>Despite the heavy criticism by some local analysts who argued that the song is too shallow, it managed to beat songs from well-know artists in Africa, among them Nigerian music guru Flavour, and Ghana\u2019s Clique 4X4, who were also competing in the same category.<\/p>\n<p>According to Wamva\u2019s website, the over-all winner in each category was determined by popular votes from global fans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWinners are set to storm Ghana next year for the \u2018Made in Africa Concert\u2019, a music festival by WatsUp TV which is set to feature music acts from Africa and beyond,\u201d read the announcement on the website.<\/p>\n<p>Tay Grin took to his official Facebook page to express his gratitude.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOmg wow! Thank you very [much]. What a beautiful way to end off the year! Glory be to God. Thanks to all the fans for voting. Malawi we\u2019ve done it again,\u201d the post reads.<\/p>\n<p>The artist has won four awards in total just this year: two local and two international. He won Malawi\u2019s Artist of the Year and Best Music Video of the Year, both in Urban Music Party Awards, \u2018Star Award\u2019 in the Black Entertainment, Film, Fashion, Television, Arts and Sports Awards (Beffta) UK and the latest for African traditional video of the year in Wamva.<\/p>\n<p>Wamva is an annual award presented by WatsUp TV dedicated to the celebration and honouring of the best in African Music Video.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An award symbolises excellence.
