New Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) General Secretary, Dyles Kachala, has unveiled ambitious plans for football development in the region.<\/p>\n
Kachala was voted into office on December 17 at the association\u2019s general assembly in Mangochi as delegates ejected George Pagaja.<\/p>\n
Kachala said SRFA was working towards introducing leagues in all districts of the region.<\/p>\n
\u201cOurs is the oldest league in the country and we must set the standards. We would like to strengthen teams in our league through introducing competitive district leagues,\u201d Kachala explained.<\/p>\n
He said teams in the league need a wider catchment area for players to improve their performance.<\/p>\n
Kachala said the relegation of teams promoted from the Southern Region Premier Division, from the TNM Super League, would be history with the establishment of district leagues.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are doing our best to identify sponsors because the teams need to be competing for something,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n
Kachala also stressed on the importance of good relations with referees to avert cases of match boycotts.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have heard of referees boycotting games for various reasons elsewhere. But here in the Southern Region, we would like them to realise that they need us and we need them. We should join hands in everything,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He said the Raphael Humba-led SRFA was working towards introducing fundraising drives to boost the body\u2019s coffers.<\/p>\n
On his experience in football administration, he said he worked as treasurer for the defunct MDC United for several years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
