All is set for Southern Region Football Association (SRFA) elections at Mangochi CCAP Church Hall today with several top officials expected to go unopposed.<\/p>\n
Outgoing Chairperson, Raphael Humba, and his vice, Patrick Mbalati, will automatically sail through as they have no challenger.<\/p>\n
Chairpersons for the Central Region and Northern Region football associations also retained their posts unopposed.<\/p>\n
Also expected to go through unopposed are treasurer Christopher Kuyera and his vice Rajabu Namalaka.<\/p>\n
Outgoing General Secretary, George Pagaja, will face Dleys Kachala while Ignatius Mtambalika is challenging Kingsley Simbeye for the post of vice General Secretary.<\/p>\n
Pharaoh Phiri, William Gowero, Mervin Nkunika, Francis Malunguza, Tiziona Banda and Daniel Mbetewa are set to do battle for four executive member posts.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Mbalati, who incorporated into the executive after Trouble Kalua resigned as Vice Chairperson, advised the officials that are set to go unopposed not to relax.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur going in unchallenged should inspire us to perform even much better than we did in the previous term of office. It shows that the affiliates have faith in us to transform the league further,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Mbalati said upon being given a new mandate, SRFA should come up with a strategic plan to woo potential sponsors.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor instance, besides the Masters Security sponsorship, we need to woo other companies to bankroll at least two regional cups to further strengthen the league. We also need to re-introduce man of the match and player of the month awards. We should also explore how to go about annual awards to motivate teams and players,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Recently, Humba said he wanted to secure sound sponsorship to deal with some problems haunting the league such as failure to pay referees on time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
