Newly crowned Fisd Challenge Cup champions Be Forward Wanderers are set to share K6 million from the K10 million prize money, with individuals showering contributing an additional K2 million.<\/p>\n<p>General Secretary Mike Butao confirmed that two members of the board of trustees, Chairman Rashid Gaffar and Aslam Gaffar, had given the players K2 million as a thank you for winning the trophy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, the total amount going to the players is K8 million. As a club, we will give them K6 million from the prize money. The additional amounts are not going through the club.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I can confirm that our two trustees have each given the players K1 million to share. Valence Kamnzere has also been rewarded with K250,000 for his great performance during the match,\u201d Butao explained.<\/p>\n<p>With the Carlsberg Cup already on their shelves, Wanderers completed the season\u2019s cup double over the weekend after beating Kamuzu Barracks (KB) 4-3 on post-match penalties at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.<\/p>\n<p>This is their first cup double for more than eight years.<\/p>\n<p>Nomads Vice Treasurer Chulu Mkangama said the club\u2019s main target this season was to win a treble but is still satisfied with the double.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year, we increased the players\u2019 cut to 60 percent from 50 to motivate our players to fight harder. Our target was to win the league. But all in all the players and technical panel have to be commended. Next year, we will come up with a proper plan to win the treble,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Wanderers won the Carlsberg Cup after beating Silver Strikers 5-4 on post-match penalties at Kamuzu Stadium on September 10.<\/p>\n<p>The team lived up to its billing as winners of all new competitions in domestic football.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Lali Lubani Road outfit has struggled to replicate cup form to the TNM Super League.<\/p>\n<p>With three games to wind up the season, Nomads are sixth on the table with 44 points from 27 games, eight points behind leaders KB.<\/p>\n<p>After beating KB on Saturday, Wanderers Team Manager, Steve Madeira, said the team\u2019s focus will be to finish on a respectable position in the top flight league.<\/p>\n<p>The Nomads face Moyale Barracks in their next assignment at Balaka Stadium on Saturday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A perfect Christmas gift.
