Ntopwa Super Boys have appealed against a ban imposed on team owner, Isaac Jomo Osman, and six players for unsporting behaviour and putting the game in disrepute.<\/p>\n
National Youth Football Association (NYFA) recently slapped Osman and the six players with the ban and a K225,000 fine for incidents that took place at the FMB Under- 20 National finals in Mzuzu last month.<\/p>\n
Osman argued that the punishment was harsh.<\/p>\n
\u201cI apologised for the misconduct of my boys but the association still went ahead to punish us in this manner. We have lodged an appeal with the hope that they will listen to our arguments,\u201d he said<\/p>\n
Osman said NYFA should have considered his contribution to youth football over the years before imposing the ban and fine.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am one person who is very much in love with youth football. I have worked tirelessly to promote the game for many years. Therefore, the association should have been a bit fair,\u201d Osman said.<\/p>\n
NYFA vice chairperson, Oswald Lungu said they have not received the appeal but commended Ntopwa for the move.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe gave them 48 hours to respond to the charge but they did not. We therefore proceeded to issue the verdict. An appeal is not bad because it is their right as provided for under Article 17 (f) of the NYFA\u2019s Rules and Regulations,\u201d Lungu said.<\/p>\n
During the final match against Silver Strikers Youth, Ntopwa players manhandled the referee and refused to get their medals as runners-up.<\/p>\n
