Former president Bakili Muluzi\u2019s firstborn daughter, Esmie Malisita, and her best friend, Hazel Busile, died on Monday after being struck by lightning at Chadzunda in Blantyre.<\/p>\n
Spokesperson for the Muluzi family, Tailosi Bakili, confirmed the deaths in an interview, saying the two were at a garden supervising application of fertiliser at the time of the incident.<\/p>\n
Bakili said Malisita, 47, will be buried on Friday at her home village Kapoloma in Machinga District.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe body will be taken from the College of Medicine Mortuary to her home at New Naperi, where a vigil is being held, on Wednesday at 2pm. On Thursday the remains will be taken to Kapoloma Village in Machinga for burial on Friday,\u201d Bakili said.<\/p>\n
An eyewitness told The Daily Times <\/em>yesterday that Malisita had paid her casual workers and was just chatting with them when the thunderbolt struck, making everyone unconscious.<\/p>\n \u201cThe other women regained consciousness but the two were rushed to hospital where they were pronounced dead on arrival,\u201d said the source.<\/p>\n Malisita was sister to Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Atupele Muluzi, and is survived by a husband and three children.<\/p>\n She was also one of the directors of Joy Media Group.<\/p>\n Relations of Busile were not readily available as we went to press to provide burial details of the deceased.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Former president Bakili Muluzi\u2019s firstborn daughter, Esmie Malisita, and her best friend, Hazel Busile, died on Monday after being struck by lightning at Chadzunda in Blantyre.
