For winning the competition, Wanderers pocketed K10 million and a trophy whereas KB got K4 million.<\/p>\n<p>A ticket for the match was worth K1,500 for open stands and K5,000 and K7,000 for covered and VIP stands respectively.<\/p>\n<p>In separate interviews, Wanderers and KB expressed satisfaction with the final figure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThough we noted some problems but we are happy with the collected revenue. But we can do better,\u201d Wanderers Vice Treasurer Chulu Mkangama said.<\/p>\n<p>KB General Secretary Michael Chamayere said his side was impressed with the organisation of the entire tournament.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe organising committee did a wonderful job. We may have lost the final but we are not complaining. Everything went on well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Football Association of Malawi (Fam) General Secretary, Alfred Gunda, said the cup final was one of the most exciting ever.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey say there is always room for improvement but I think we did well, especially on the part of security. We commend all the fans who came to the stadium. They came to enjoy the game and they were peaceful,\u201d Gunda said.<\/p>\n<p>Fisd Brands Manager Maxwell Phiri described the tournament as a great success.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has been a wonderful journey right from day one. At the end of everything, it is football that has won,\u201d Phiri said.<\/p>\n<p>Wanderers were crowned champions after beating KB 4-3 on post-match penalties. The game had ended 0-0 in regulation time.<\/p>\n<p>Veteran goalkeeper Valence Kamzere was the hero of the day when he saved two penalties to guide his side to a cup double having also won the Carlsberg Cup in September.<\/p>\n<p>Nomads converted their spot kicks through Alfred Manyozo Jnr, Joseph Kamwendo, Peter Wadabwa and Amos Bello whereas Leman Nthala saved Stanley Sanudi\u2019s kick.<\/p>\n<p>Manase Chiyesa, Mustafa Salimu and Pempho Kamsichiri scored for KB but Gift Mbwana and Nthala\u2019s penalties were saved by in-form Kamzere.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Saturday\u2019s inaugural Fisd Challenge Cup final match involving Be Forward Wanderers and Kamuzu Barracks (KB) grossed K16 million in gate revenue at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.
