Kamuzu Barracks (KB) head coach Billy Phambala has heaped praise on his charges for executing his game-plan this season.<\/p>\n
The soldiers have a slender lead at the top of the TNM Super League with 52 points from 27 games, just above second-placed Blue Eagles from the same number of games.<\/p>\n
Phambala said the team managed to recover from a bad start at the commencement of the season because of team character.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are strong and difficult to beat. I salute my players for the wonderful job and they deserve respect for that. At the start of the season, nobody gave us a chance to be title contenders but we have proved the doubters wrong,\u201d he explained soon after beating Civo United 1-0 on Saturday, thanks to Kelvin Hanganda\u2019s goal.<\/p>\n
Phambala said his side must exercise caution in the remaining games.<\/p>\n
If KB win their remaining three games, they will be crowned champions.<\/p>\n
Davie Banda, Harvey Nkacha, Pilirani Makupe and goalkeeper Lemani Nthala have been in spectacular form for the soldiers this season.<\/p>\n
Makupe alongside Pempho Kamsichiri, Mustafa Salimu and Vincent Mphepo have formed a rock-solid defence.<\/p>\n
Former Big Bullets forward, Andrew Chikhosi, said this year\u2019s title race is the most exciting ever.<\/p>\n
\u201c I believe the championship will be decided in the final week of the season. The most consistent team among the title contenders will win the league,\u201d Chikhosi said.<\/p>\n
KB have a fixture against Blue Eagles at Nankhaka, a trip to Chitowe against a resilient Dwangwa United and a home game against Karonga United.<\/p>\n
KB started the season on a low having gone three games without a win but Phambala turned the tables around.<\/p>\n
In the opening three games of the season, the team lost 4-1 to Epac and went down by 3-1 margins to Karonga and Moyale Barracks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
