Premier Bet Wizards have admitted that they need to wake up from their slumber to beat the TNM Super League relegation trap.<\/p>\n
Lifeless Wizards were out-thought and outfought in all departments when Azam Tigers produced master- class performance to win 5-0 in a TNM Super League second round match at Kamuzu Stadium on Saturday.<\/p>\n
At half-time, Tigers led 3-0 with goals from Luke Chima, Willy Saenda and Bright Munthali.<\/p>\n
In the second-half, Tigers added two goals through Munthali and Chikumbutso Henderson.<\/p>\n
The performance of Wizards goalkeeper, Francis Mkanda, was awful as he let in silly goals.<\/p>\n
Perhaps, the keeper was not to blame for Tigers\u2019 second and fourth goals which came from spot-kicks.<\/p>\n
Saenda scored Tigers second goal from the penalty spot kick while Munthali claimed his brace when he also converted the second spot kick for his side to lead 4-0.<\/p>\n
However, Mkanda could have done better to prevent the other goals.<\/p>\n
Wizards\u2019 Assistant Coach, MacDonald Yobe, said the defeat was a wake-up call that their relegation battle was not over.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe need to bounce back from this defeat. We were not at our best. We gave away silly goals. We did not play a coordinated passing game. Even though we made some changes, we still played without a purpose. We are still stuck in the relegation zone and we need to bounce back strongly,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Yobe said they will devise a new game-plan for their forthcoming away assignments.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe certainly need to beat Dwangwa United next weekend to enhance our chances of staying in the league. Otherwise, if we play like this we are going to be in trouble once again. We need to avoid what happened last season at all cost because it was so depressing,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Wizards were relegated from the top-flight league, but breathed a sigh of relief when Super League of Malawi announced that it would hold play-offs to identify the 16th team.<\/p>\n
